Ministry Teams

  • Faith Development

    The Faith Development Team focuses on spiritual growth for all ages—from nursery through older adults. This team is responsible for small groups that help us grow in our faith, the church library, and various programs designed for children, youth, and adults. They also ensure Safe Sanctuaries practices are followed, making it a safe place for everyone to learn and grow in Christ. If you’re passionate about teaching, supporting, or learning with others, consider joining this team.

  • Congregational Care

    The Congregational Care Team is all about supporting and caring for our church family. This includes ministries like Stephen Ministry, Prayer Ministry, and providing care for those who are hospitalized, homebound, or in nursing facilities. They also celebrate life events such as birthdays and new babies. If you have a heart for serving others in times of need and offering a comforting presence, the Congregational Care Ministry could use your support.

  • Hospitality

    The Hospitality Team is all about creating a welcoming atmosphere for our church family and visitors. This team handles everything from planning social events to maintaining our facilities. They make sure everyone feels at home, whether it’s during a fellowship gathering or just by ensuring our spaces are clean and welcoming. If you enjoy connecting with people and helping set the stage for great events, this is the team for you!

  • Missions and Services

    The Missions & Service Ministry focuses on outreach and serving those in need. Whether it’s through the Food Pantry, Back Packs of Love, or supporting United Methodist Agencies, this team makes a real impact in our local and global communities. They also organize events like the Thanksgiving Meal and Family Promise. If you’re passionate about serving others and sharing God’s love through action, this is a team that needs your heart and hands.

  • Welcome & Engagement

    The Welcome & Engagement team is dedicated to helping new members feel at home and connected. This team oversees our attendance registration, small groups for building relationships, and the welcoming presence of our greeters at all events. If you have a heart for welcoming newcomers and fostering community, we invite you to join this team.

  • Worship

    Our Worship Ministry Team helps lead us in glorifying God through our Sunday services and special events. This includes roles like altar guild, acolytes, ushers, and those who help decorate the worship spaces with beautiful flowers and decorations. If you love worship and want to contribute to creating a meaningful experience for others, we would love to have you join this team.

  • Preschool Board

    The Preschool Board oversees the care and development of our preschool program. From curriculum planning to managing staff benefits, budget, and fees, this team ensures that our preschool ministry runs smoothly. They also provide general oversight to make sure our youngest members are receiving a solid foundation. If you have a heart for early childhood education and want to make an impact in the lives of children, this team would love to have you!

  • The Green team

    The Green Team is a dedicated group within our church focused on promoting eco-friendly initiatives and making a positive impact on the environment. From energy conservation efforts to creating beautiful gardens and supporting sustainable practices, the Green Team plays a key role in enhancing our campus through the ReWilding initiative. All are welcome to join in their mission of stewardship and environmental care.

Adult Groups

  • Women's Bible Study

    The Women's Wednesday Bible Study offers an opportunity to connect with others and grow in your faith. Each session begins with a time for socializing at 9:30AM, followed by the study from 10-11:45AM. Follow the link below to find more information on our current study and to sign up today!

  • Men's Bible Study Groups

    Join us for the Men's Bible Study, where we dive into the lectionary texts each week under the leadership of Pastor Matt Stewart. No sign-up required. All are welcome to whichever group best fits their schedule!

    One group meets every Thursday morning at 7:45 AM in the Youth House, and one group meets on Wednesday evening in Room 17 under the sanctuary from 6:30–7:15PM.

  • Gentle Souls

    Gentle Souls is a ministry of CFUMC with adults who are differently abled. We are excited that this wonderful beloved group is continuing to thrive through their Sunday School class, involvement with outreach events and activities in the church.   • United Women in Faith (UWF)

    The United Women in Faith (formerly United Methodist Women) shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

  • Sunday School

    Adult Sunday School classes offer a place of fellowship, study, and growth as you walk your faith journey. Feel free to visit a few classes until you find a place that feels like home. All Classes are for men and women, couples and singles, and meet from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. on Sunday mornings unless otherwise noted.

  • United Methodist Men

    Cumming First United Methodist Church is developing a ”Men in Faith” ministry that is focused on providing a variety of opportunities for men to gather to learn, to be in service, to be in fellowship, and to share Jesus’ love with others.

Youth Ministries

  • Student Ministry

    Our Student Ministry offers opportunities for connection and growth! Join us on Sunday mornings from 9:45-10:45 AM in the Youth House for Sunday School. On Sunday evenings, students in 6th-12th grades are invited to Youth Group from 4-6 PM, with dinner served at 5:30 PM. We also gather on Wednesday evenings for High School Bible Study in the Youth House from 6-7:30 PM. It's a great place to grow in faith, build friendships, and have fun together!

Children’s Ministries

  • 9:00 AM Sunday Morning Worship

    At 9:00 AM, kids join their families for Gloria Dei Modern Worship. During this service, they can experience worship in a fun and engaging way through the Pray-Ground, designed to help them understand the service better.

  • 11:00 AM Sunday Morning Worship

    At 11:00 AM, kids participate in Kid’s Worship. For children ages 4 years through 2nd grade, they are dropped off and picked up at the Children’s Check-in Desk. For 3rd through 5th graders, they attend worship with their families and are dismissed for a special time together, meeting parents in the Narthex afterward.

  • Sunday Morning Nursery

    Nursery care is available for children birth through 3 years old during the 9:00 and 11:00 services and the 9:45 Small Group hour.

  • After School

    We encourage academic, social and creative growth in a safe, nurturing, Christian environment. We serve Sawnee, Matt, and Cumming Elementary Schools and Otwell Middle School. We offer homework assistance, organized playtime, daily special activities, great snacks and both indoor and outdoor games.

In-House Missions

  • Food Pantry

    The Food Pantry is open every Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM to assist individuals and families in need. There are no income requirements, and anyone in the community can receive help once a week. Our pantry is stocked and prepared through the efforts of dedicated volunteers.

  • Thanksgiving Dinner

    Over 800 meals are prepared and served here at the church and delivered to shut-ins in Forsyth County on Thanksgiving Day.

  • Backpacks of Love

    Backpacks of Love is part of the Children’s Ministry at CFUMC. Their mission is to collect food items and distribute them to children in Forsyth County who may not receive meals on the weekends. This special ministry serves elementary through high school-aged children in need.

  • Family Promise

    We partner with 13 other churches to host families who are dealing with homelessness. Families are provided a safe place to stay and meals along with programs and support to help gain or regain sustainable independence.
