Weekday Preschool

The Weekday Preschool/ Kindergarten is a place “Where Learning is Fun!” It has been an outreach ministry of the church since 1972, serving over 12,000 children from this community.

Our mission and desire is to provide children the very best in early childhood education in a Christian environment. We endeavor to maintain the highest standard of excellence in our teaching, our activities, and in the guidance of each child’s learning experience. Each day we encourage our children to develop to their fullest potential—academically, physically, socially, and spiritually.

The Weekday Preschool is a half-day Christian preschool serving children from two to five years of age.

Our Kindergarten, for many years, has ranked higher than 99% of other private kindergartens in the nation. We are very proud of this accomplishment!

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”

Proverbs 22:6

Young children are always learning something. Here at CFUMC Preschool/Kindergarten, we understand that learning is critical to your child’s development.

Mission Projects

We believe that even the very young can understand and learn the importance of helping others. Each year, we support several mission projects such as collecting food in “Blessing Bags,” singing for senior citizens, make care packages for our armed forces, and other outreach projects throughout the year.

Professional Staff

Our staff of professional educators is here to help guide your child through their most formative years.

Our Kindergarten program has scored 99% higher than all other private kindergarten programs in the nation.

Special Events

We have a number of different special events throughout the year including: Grandparents Day, Circus Day, Daddy’s Night, Muffins for Moms, Art Show, Halloween Costume Parade, Christmas Program, Thanksgiving Feast.

We have found that children learn best when there is a planned curriculum of activities focused on a particular theme or concept. These thematic and seasonal units are designed to be age-appropriate within each classroom. Classrooms are set up with a “Learning Wall”. Each day the teacher reviews the skills indicated on the learning wall. Some of the skills concepts will include colors, shapes, numbers, nursery rhyme, Pledge of Allegiance, Bible verse, calendar, alphabet, weather, sight words for the Pre-K. In addition, our curriculum provides Learning Centers, Manipulatives in the learning centers, Chapel in the sanctuary and classrooms, Science experiments, Story Time, Arts & crafts. All activities may pertain to the unit being taught. Music and Creative Movement, Computer Lab for the 4 and 5-year-olds, Community Resource Persons, Outside/ Indoor Play, Special Events, Enrichment Activities, Progress Reports for the Parents. The Kindergarten uses the Houghton Mifflin reading curriculum as well as Saxon Math.

What’s the preschool child ready to learn?

Preschoolers are ready to acquire many skills. Preschoolers are avid learners. Learning is exciting to them! Preschoolers learn best through playful interaction with their environment. Preschoolers are constantly in motion and are rapidly gaining control of their bodies. They should be encouraged to participate in numerous activities that promote gross and fine motor coordination. In preschool most children begin to interact with people outside the family and learn how to relate and socialize within a group. Preschoolers are naturally inquisitive and eager to explore, create and learn. Children need opportunities for growth and stimulation in all areas of development: physical, language, social, emotional, and mental.
