Family Promise

Cumming First UMC is part of the interfaith community of twelve Forsyth County churches that serves homeless children and their families through Family Promise. The Family Promise program is a 30-90 day plan that empowers and assists families who are experiencing homelessness with the goal of helping them to gain sustainable independence.
Our church hosts families four times each year,  at one week intervals. Training classes for volunteers are provided at the church prior to each host week.

Upcoming Family Promise Weeks

Our first week we had 3 mothers and 7 children visit us for a week ending in our first snowfall.

We had 3 families with 10 children stay at the Alpharetta House during our host week. Thank you to all that supported our week!

Due to the high number of Host Locations that have been closed due to the COVID-19 quarantine, the current families have been moved to the Family Promise transition house located in Alpharetta.  We will continue to update this page with the location of our families and the actions we are taking to keep our families and our volunteers safe.

The next CFUMC Host Week is August 16th.

We  are in need of volunteers to provide Grocery Supplies, Dinners, Fellowship, and Overnight Hosts.  Financial support is always appreciated.
