CFUMC Upward Sports
Cumming First United Methodist Church started our Upward Basketball with Cheerleading Program in the Winter of 2003. We currently have Upward Basketball with Cheerleading, Upward spring and fall soccer. We believe that skills and values for success for life can be taught on the court or field including sportsmanship, teamwork, integrity, and respect for authority.
We put Christ at the center of our practices and games by having a devotion at each gathering. We invite parents to get involved with their kids in our programs. We always need coaches, team moms, and referees. We will pair coaches together so you are not alone and have a support system in place.
Please note: If your child has any issues playing on-level sports, you must make an appointment with Ashley Daley, Upward Sports Director prior to signing up for any of our sport programs.

Upward Fall Soccer
CFUMC Upward Fall Soccer is a terrific way to get your younger children involved with sports. Our ages are 3 years old (by Sept 1, of the current year) through 7th grade (co-ed). Registration for soccer begins April 15, 2024 and the deadline for registration is July 10, 2024. Registration Cost is: 165.00 per player and this includes shirt, shorts & socks. We begin practicing around the week of August 5 and the season will end October 12 2024.
All games and practices are held on the CFUMC fields. There will be 7 games scheduled.
All players will need cleats and shin guards.
Upward Spring Soccer
CFUMC Upward Spring Soccer is a terrific way to get your younger children and more experienced kids involved with sports. Our ages are 3 years old (by February 1, of the current year) through 7th grade (co-ed). Registration for soccer begins on January 2 and the deadline for registration is Feb 5th. We begin practicing around the week of February 26, 2024 with first game day tentatively scheduled for March 16, 2024 and the season will end around May 4, 2024. When you register your child/children, you will have the option to “opt out” of one night of practice. This means that we will not put your child on that particular night of practice. This leaves us the other nights to pair your child up with the best team possible. There will be seven games scheduled and all games and practices are held at the CFUMC fields behind the student center. Most games are on Saturday mornings but there will be a couple “in the week at night games” due to weather related make ups and spring break. Please send any questions to: upward@cfumcga.com.
Your child will need shin guards & cleats for this sport.
Basketball with Cheerleading
Registration begins on August 8th and ends on October 9th at noon. Practices will begin the week of October 30th and the season will conclude around the first of February. Available for Ages: 5 (by Sept 1 of the current year) through 8th grade (co-ed). There will be seven scheduled games and all games and practices are held at the CFUMC gym. Your child will need a comfortable pair of athletic shoes for both basketball and cheerleading.
