Kaylan + Tyler’s Story
“We are so thankful for the support from our Church family…” -Kaylan Foster
On December 25, 1994, Kaylan Foster was baptized into the Body of Christ here at Cumming First United Methodist Church (CFUMC). God has continued to work in her life and the life of her husband Tyler.
Kaylan and Tyler met on a short-term mission trip in the jungles of Ecuador in 2009. Their relationship began in the same place that they will soon be serving as missionaries. They were married on July 30, 2016 at CFUMC after 6 years of courtship.
In 2014, they served on a six-week trip, to Ecuador with Jungle Kids for Christ, where the Lord began revealing their call to missions. “God used that six-week trip to give us a glimpse of the life and ministry that He had planned for us. We spent a few months discerning, praying, and having conversations with our parents, pastors, and close friends. We finally made a commitment to follow God’s call which he laid on our hearts,” Kaylan said.
Their primary mission in Ecuador is working with Jungle Kid’s for Christ at the Antioch Christian Academy. This school equips children to break the cycle of poverty and to share the message of the transformational power of Jesus with their communities. Kaylan’s primary job is to build the middle school and high school mathematics curriculum as well as teach math classes. Tyler will work on various projects to obtain the necessary resources to run the Academy. “Our jobs serve as a platform for us to become a part of the local community so that we can share the Gospel message of Christ and make disciples,” said Tyler.
CFUMC has greatly impacted Kaylan and Tyler’s call, “We are so blessed that many members of CFUMC have joined both our financial and prayer teams! While we may be the “boots on the ground” in the jungle, our supporters are also on mission with God in His ministry in Ecuador through their prayers and gifts,” Kaylan said.
Kaylan acknowledged that CFUMC poured into her Christian walk at a very young age with Bible stories and songs, providing a foundation for her walk with Christ. Additionally, the short-term youth mission trips as well as the 9:51 worship service have made a significant impact on her life. Kaylan said, “We are so thankful for the support from our Church family, and we are blessed to be able to pray for growth and discipleship for CFUMC and for our relationships through mission outreach.”
Kaylan and Tyler began their mission service on August 5, 2017. If you like to stay up-to-date with their mission work in Ecuador, please email Kaylan (kaylanf94@gmail.com) or Tyler (tylerfjkc@gmail.com) and ask to be put on their mailing list.
