Support Groups

It is the desire of Cumming First UMC to meet the needs of those individuals in all walks of life and situations. Below is a list of Support Groups that we offer. If you do not see a group that fits your specific need, we are always willing to talk with you and direct you to people who can help you in your life journey. If there is not individual contact information listed, call the church office.

Gentle Souls

Gentle Souls Ministry is a ministry for adults aged 16 and up with special needs. We meet at 4:00 pm on the third Saturday of every month in the Children’s wing of the church. It includes group activities, crafts, music, and a meal.

For more information about Gentle Souls, email Rev. Kathie Stasko at or call (770) 887-2900 ext. 212.

Stephen Ministry

We are brought up to be strong, self-sufficient, independent people. We tend to think that if we ask for help, it is a sign of weakness. However, that is not God’s plan. God wants us to care for others and allow others to care for us in our time of need. Do not struggle alone.

If you or someone you know could benefit from the care of a Stephen Minister call, Penny Waters, Referral Coordinator at 404-316-5561 or Rev. Stasko at 770-887-2900 (all calls are confidential).

Grief Support

“Grief Matters” is an eight-week peer support program devoted to understanding the nature of grief and providing strategies for the grief journey.

For more information on this group, email Rev. Kathie Stasko at or call (770)887-2900 x 212.

Divorce Support

Rebuilding is a support group for people who are in the midst of separation or divorce. It’s a place to be around people who understand what you are feeling.

For more information on this group, email Rev. Kathie Stasko at or call (770)887-2900 x 212.
