Men’s Ministry

Cumming First United Methodist Church is developing a ”Men in Faith” ministry that is focused on providing a variety of opportunities for men to gather to learn, to be in service, to be in fellowship, and to the share Jesus’ love with others.

We think it is vitally important that we develop a sense of community for men to:

  • Hold each other accountable
  • Support one another
  • Develop mentors in faith
  • Mature in our Christian faith
  • Serve the community as brothers in Christ
  • Better understand what it means to be a Christian Father, a Christian Husband, and/or Christian Son
  • Recognize the challenges of being a Christian man in today’s world
  • Have fun as brothers in Christ

It depends! We could be gathering at a:

  • Church – Service Project Site
  • Golf Course – Somebody’s Home
  • Movie Theater – Retreat Location
  • Ball Park

Not everyone can attend or participate (nor it is expected) in all the events and programs that will fall under this ministry. The point is to pick and choose opportunities that connect to where you are in life. It is an opportunity for you to surround yourself with people who love Christ. It is also an opportunity for you to share our Christian community with others who may not have a church home, who might be struggling to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior, or do not feel connected within our Church.

Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.

We are all at different points in our Christian, secular, and family journeys. Consequently, there is no one size fits all to accommodate everyone’s needs or time availability. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated by taking a survey to help shape our efforts and better direct resources to the greater interests of our Church community as we develop the Men in Faith ministry.

Acts – Catching up with the Spirit

Led by Rev. Pistol Robinson

Learn to experience God’s faithfulness and guidance by joining the journey with Jesus’ followers.

There’s three opportunities to join this Bible Study:

  • Monday Morning Bible Study starting May 3rd
  • Wednesday Men’s Bible Study starting May 5th
  • Friday Morning Men’s Bible Study starting April 16th

There’s no better explanation for how to live out the Great Commission—following the instruction of the resurrected Jesus Christ to spread his teachings to all the nations of the world—than in the book of Acts. It is a unique and crucial book that chronicles the story of God’s grace flooding out to the world through the lives of the apostles in the decades immediately following Christ’s ascension into heaven. In Acts: Catching Up with the Spirit, author and biblical scholar Matthew Skinner explores six key themes that illustrate the ways in which reading Acts is capable of igniting our imagination about the character of the Christian gospel, the work of God’s people (the church), and the challenges of living faithfully in a complex and changing world.
